Well this is pretty much the introduction to us, and how we meet. It's a very difficult process to find someone you want to live with. Mostly, you need to find someone who you know enough about that you know it will work, and little enough about that you don't know all their secret already. That makes for a very boring two a.m. wine induced chat fest.
So that time was approaching when I was moving out sooner rather than later and I needed someone to live with.
I'm a nanny. I have a very strick work schedule, I'm not a giant partier, and I like my space. This is not an easy roommate order to fill. So to my surprise one day at the Museum of Science and Industry (yes, I live in Chicago), I was terribly lost with the two little boys that I watch five days a week. The older one at the time was only 2, almost three, and very sensitive to loud sounds. If you've ever been to Science and Industry you know that it isn't exactly quiet. They have a Tessla coil that goes off like every hour or so. LOUD.
So I was pretty much at my wits end when I run into this girl with two kids about the same age as mine and she looks rather young like myself. I'm desperate, I'm lost, I'm frustrated and bold apparently at this point. I ask her for directions and then proceed to ask, or beg I guess, if we could join them.
She's a friggin' saint and agrees to my ridiculous plee. Turns out that our older kids get along really well. So the rest of the day was getting better and less stressful. We also got a chance to talking and this girl seemed pretty awesome. She was a lot like me, we dealt with the same things day in and day out and she seemed really normal and laid back.
Long story short 6 months or so later and after getting to know this girl really well we found and apartment that seemed, well, perfect and moved in! And this is how it all started.
So for the sake of this blog, and not to hurt anyone's feelings, names will be changed. I am Bones (yes a huge a fan of the show) and my dear sweet roommate is Grey (you guessed it, Grey's Anatomy). Enjoy our strange and lovely shit show of a life.
